Argos shoppers are turning to the new Vortex Blade Air Cooler, priced at £85, as a 'saviour' during the UK's third heatwave this year, with temperatures surpassing 30°C. The two-in-one Bush Air Cooler and Humidifier uses water cooling technology to convert warm air into a fresher breeze, offering three speeds and three modes, along with a punchy 6.5m/s airflow from a vortex fan blade.
Features and Availability
According to Argos, the unit includes reusable ice packs for extra chill, an automatic swing feature, and an eight-hour timer with remote control. It is suitable for rooms up to 25 square meters and operates at sound levels up to 63dB. The cooler can be purchased online with in-store collection or home delivery across the UK.
Similar devices are available from other retailers, such as the Tristar White Air Cooler (£68) at Wickes, the Swan Oatmeal 5L Nordic Air Cooler (£89) at Asda, and the BUENICOO Three-in-One Evaporative Air Cooler (£88.22) on Amazon.
Shopper Reviews
Customer feedback has been largely positive. One reviewer said: "Great cooler and good power. Not very loud either. It's really been a saviour in this weather!" Another noted: "Works as intended and easy to use. At the higher fan speeds, it's quite noisy, but the lowest speed was all we needed to get cool air heading in our direction. Good value for money."
A third reviewer commented: "Really useful and silent on the low settings and really strong fan settings for multiroom cooling. Has wheels for easy moving as well." A fourth person added: "Bought this for working from home in this heatwave. It is not freezing cold, but it helped me work comfortably in the heat today!"
Mixed Reactions
However, not all reviews were glowing. A two-star review stated: "It is just a strong fan. It does not cool the room as its description states. Yes, the air that is blown is cool, but you have to stand/sit directly in front of it to feel any benefit." Another dissatisfied user claimed: "I could not sleep with it next to me. Felt like I was sleeping next to a jumbo jet!"
Despite these criticisms, the majority of shoppers are satisfied. A five-star verdict read: "Just bought it a few days ago and it's been on constantly. Nice cool air when ice packs are fresh, but loses that when they melt. Still a good fan though."
