Argos has cut the price of its popular Stratford Oak Veneer Coffee Table to under £80 as part of a wider homeware sale running ahead of Christmas. The table, normally listed at £95, drops to £76 when shoppers apply the code FURN20 at checkout.
The oak-effect table offers a spacious top surface as well as a lower shelf designed for displaying books and magazines. Its classic Scandinavian look is described as giving a clean and grounding feel, suited to modern, contemporary, and farmhouse-style homes. The Stratford coffee table has received a high 82% recommendation rate on the Argos website so far.
Shopper reviews and considerations
Several buyers have praised the table for its sturdiness and ease of assembly. One shopper said: "Sturdy easy to assemble nice size. A good solid table at a great price, five stars." A second commented: "Great item. A beautiful table. Easy to assemble in minutes. It is sturdy and looks amazing." A third added: "Solid table. Very good table, easy assembly, very stable, brilliant purchase, thank you Argos."
However, shoppers should note the table is not solid oak but has a veneer finish. One disappointed buyer wrote: "Not oak veneer, but a paper coating. Not very durable."
Alternative options from Dusk and Dunelm
For those seeking alternatives, the Dusk autumn sale includes the Heidi Oak Coffee Table, reduced from £239 to £117 in both walnut and light wood finishes, saving shoppers £122. The solid oak table has a rectangular shape with soft edges, slim legs, and open/closed shelves for storage. It features a natural grain with a smooth finish.
Dunelm also offers the Canyon Coffee Table, Oak, priced at £79, which has received excellent reviews on its website. The table has a textured oak effect finish and includes a large lower shelf praised for its practicality. Full assembly is required, though most reviewers describe the process as "easy," with some noting it can take up to two hours.
Shoppers can keep the coffee table as it is or decorate it with a garland and candles for a festive touch.
