As winter tightens its grip, Brits are swapping nights out for cosy evenings in, with a rich hot chocolate becoming the drink of choice. This year, creating the perfect cup just got significantly more affordable thanks to a surprise launch from discount supermarket Aldi.
A Budget-Friendly Rival to Luxury Brands
The retailer is set to release its own Hot Chocolate Maker in the famous middle aisle, also known as the 'Aldi Finds' section, from Sunday 7 December. Priced at just £24.99, it presents a staggering saving for style-conscious consumers. This is a massive £154.01 less than the Smeg Multi Milk Frother (£179.95) and £124.96 cheaper than the popular Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser (£149.95).
This isn't Aldi's first foray into the hot chocolate game. The gadget was a complete sell-out success last year, prompting the supermarket to bring it back with a stylish update for 2025. The new design features a chic square body with a contrasting black dial and a stainless steel saucepan, directly rivalling the aesthetic of high-end models.
Features and Design of the Aldi Appliance
Despite its compact size, ideal for smaller kitchens and easy storage, the Aldi Hot Chocolate Maker boasts a generous 450ml capacity. It comes equipped with two pre-programmed settings for warming and frothing milk, mirroring the functionality of its far more expensive competitors.
Practicality is also a key feature, as the machine is dishwasher safe for effortless cleaning. Shoppers will be able to choose between two classic colourways: black or cream, ensuring it fits seamlessly into most kitchen décors.
Act Fast Before It Sells Out
As with all Aldi Specialbuys, stock is strictly limited. Once the initial batch of hot chocolate makers is sold, they will not be available again until potentially next winter. Shoppers keen to upgrade their winter beverage routine will need to be quick off the mark when it lands in stores this weekend.
The middle aisle will also feature a range of other tempting kitchen gadgets this week, including kettles, toasters, and an espresso maker for £49.99. A stand mixer priced at £39.99 will also be available, perfect for festive baking sessions.
For those considering other affordable options, Dunelm offers a Milk Frother with 4 Functions for £30, while the Dualit Milk Frother & Hot Chocolate Maker retails for £79.99 at Selfridges. However, Aldi's offering undercuts them all, positioning itself as the clear budget winner for indulgent, home-made hot chocolates this season.
