Aldi is set to rebrand as 'Baldi' for one day only outside BST Hyde Park in London on Friday, July 10, to help rapper Pitbull break a Guinness World Record. The supermarket will operate a pop-up stall offering free bald caps, aviator sunglasses, temporary tattoos, and ready-to-drink cocktail cans to fans attending the festival.
World Record Attempt Details
The record attempt aims for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps, inspired by a trend among Pitbull fans who dress as the artist—nicknamed 'Mr. Worldwide'—by donning bald caps, aviators, and suits. The idea originated from BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James on his Breakfast show, who suggested the world record attempt on air after Pitbull's Hyde Park headline show was announced. Pitbull responded by texting James directly to express his support.
Pop-Up Stall and Giveaway
The Baldi pop-up, featuring a 'Baldi' logo and 'Firebald' banner, will be located outside Hyde Park. Fans can collect dress-up items and sample Infusionist and Stefanoff ready-to-drink cocktail cans while stocks last. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: 'When we heard Pitbull and his fans were attempting this world record at BST Hyde Park, we knew we had to show our support and get involved with Baldi.'
Fan Trend and Official Adjudication
The bald cap trend has grown from Pitbull's recent tours, including sold-out O2 Arena dates in London, where thousands of concertgoers started wearing bald caps, aviators, and suits, calling themselves 'The Bald E's.' Organisers have turned the fan movement into an officially adjudicated Guinness World Record attempt. The Baldi stand will operate on July 10, from the time the venue opens until stocks are depleted.
