Aldi has announced plans to open 16 new supermarkets across the UK in the coming months, backed by a £370m investment this year. The budget retailer has also submitted planning applications for eight further sites, continuing its rapid expansion as one of the UK's cheapest supermarkets.

Confirmed New Aldi Locations for 2026

The 16 confirmed Aldi stores opening in 2026 are: Hattersley (Greater Manchester), Newport (Isle of Wight), Bishops Cleeve (Cheltenham, Gloucestershire), Newport (South Wales), Orpington (London), Hoxton (London), Ashford (Kent), Watford (London), Rayleigh (Essex), Balsall Common (West Midlands), Marble Arch (London), Malton (North Yorkshire), Port Talbot (Wales), Sutton Coldfield (West Midlands), Wigan (Greater Manchester), and Sudbury (Suffolk).

Planning Applications Underway for Eight More Sites

Aldi has planning applications in place for stores at eight additional locations. In Thames Ditton, Surrey, plans to build on the former site of a car dealership were approved in March. In Keynsham, Somerset, plans were approved by Bath and North East Somerset Council's planning committee. In Melksham, Wiltshire, Aldi has submitted plans for a store at the Farmers Roundabout off Bradford Road, though flooding concerns have been raised. In Seacombe, Merseyside, a £7m store plan has been submitted to Wirral Council. In Devizes, Wiltshire, a proposal includes a new store and drive-thru coffee shop at The Bike School on London Road. In Plymouth, Devon, plans for a supermarket at Plymstock, part of a new 1,684-home community, have been submitted to Plymouth City Council. In Eastfield, North Yorkshire, plans feature a 1,228 sqm food store with a customer car park. In St Mellons, Cardiff, Robert Hitchins Limited, in partnership with Aldi, is proposing a new high-quality food store on land at Plot A, Wern Fawr Lane.
