Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters have been dispatched to a hotel on Amhurst Road in Hackney after a fire broke out on its top floor. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) received the first of 14 calls about the blaze at 16:52 and mobilized crews from Homerton, Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Islington, and surrounding fire stations.
Local Residents Advised to Take Precautions
Locals have been urged to keep their windows and doors closed due to heavy smoke pouring from the scene. The fire has also caused traffic disruptions near Hackney Central station. "Please avoid the area if you can at this time," the LFB said in a statement.
