A reliable insider has cast doubt on leaked Grand Theft Auto 6 prices from a Portuguese retailer, suggesting the figures are merely random placeholders. The listings, which appeared on Fnac's website over the weekend, showed five different physical SKUs with prices ranging from €89.99 (£78) to €199.99 (£173). However, billbil-kun, a known leaker with a strong track record, has debunked the authenticity of these prices.
Leaked Prices and Retailer Listings
The Reddit-shared listings from Fnac included five SKUs under placeholder names RS1, RS2, RS3, RS4, and RS5, all with a November 19 release date. The prices were: €89.99, €99.99, €109.99, €119.99, and €199.99. The lowest price matches that of a physical copy of Mario Kart World, leading some to speculate that the standard edition of GTA 6 could be £74.99 in the UK. The listings have since been removed.
Insider Debunks the Leak
Billbil-kun, known for accurately leaking game prices and retail details, posted on X: “Looks like many people (including R*) are trying to disturb my holidays. Those SKUs are just placeholders bcz EAN codes (like UPC in US) aren’t belonging to Take2 traditional games prefixes. So those prices are random ones (& Sorry, w/o my PC, can’t do much to get real prices).” The insider’s claim is based on the European Article Number codes not matching Take-Two’s typical prefixes.
Pre-Orders and Official Pricing
With GTA 6 pre-orders set to go live on Thursday, June 25, the question of pricing remains a hot topic. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly stated he aims to make the price “very reasonable” for what’s offered, countering rumours that the sequel could cost upwards of £100. The game is slated for a November 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Despite billbil-kun’s dismissal, there remains a chance that the leaked prices could align with the final pricing. However, given the insider’s reliability, the leaked figures are widely considered unreliable. Official pricing is expected to be confirmed soon, likely alongside the opening of pre-orders.
