Aston Villa fined £570,000 for late kick-off breaches

Aston Villa have been handed a £570,000 financial penalty by the Premier League after admitting to multiple breaches of league rules concerning late kick-offs last season. The club accepted responsibility for delaying the start of either the first or second half on 10 separate occasions during the 2025-26 campaign.

Escalating fines for repeated infringements

The sanctions began in August 2025, when Aston Villa were fined £5,000 following a 1-0 defeat to Brentford. However, each subsequent infringement resulted in increased penalties. The final fine of £150,000 was imposed after a 4-1 home loss to Chelsea in March 2026. The total cumulative fine amounts to £570,000.

Impact on the club

Despite finishing in the top four last season and enjoying a successful campaign on the pitch, the financial punishment serves as a reminder of the Premier League's strict enforcement of match-day regulations. The club has not commented further on the matter.
