England claimed their first points of the Nations League campaign with a 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic in Prague.
After a dour first half in which Pavel Sulc was sent off for fouling Elliot Anderson, England improved following a dressing-room talk from Thomas Tuchel. Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane scored in the second half as England won in the Czech capital for the first time since 1908.
Defensive display
James Trafford made a good early save and another at 2-0 but had little else to do. Trent Alexander-Arnold produced a superb assist for the opening goal but otherwise failed to fully pass his audition. Trevoh Chalobah made his first competitive start for England and made a good first-half block, though too many of his passes were hit far too lightly.
Marc Guehi was unfairly penalised for a few fouls that should not have been awarded but was still suspect on the ball. Lewis Hall delivered two or three dangerous crosses but his decision-making was often questionable, with one good tackle to his name.
Midfield and attack
Elliot Anderson was busy in midfield without making a huge impact. Myles Lewis-Skelly was booked for a foul that could have been more sternly punished but delivered a good display in midfield. Bukayo Saka provided one good corner delivery but missed a big chance in the first half and did not have one of his better games in an England shirt.
Morgan Rogers hit the post and nearly scored a late header but went missing for large periods. Anthony Gordon was the best player on the pitch, continuing his lively form from the Spain game and scoring England's first goal. Harry Kane was quiet for long periods but forced a fine save before half time and scored his 87th goal for his country.
Substitutes' impact
Eberechi Eze came on at half time and was bright, forcing the goalkeeper to tip over a decent effort. Jude Bellingham had little impact off the bench except for a low driven shot that forced a good save. Alex Scott split the defence with a run and shot just wide, while Rio Ngumoha was bright down the right. Morgan Gibbs-White came on late and was not rated.
