A seven-bedroom Victorian house in Southport has attracted attention for an unusual feature: a ball pit containing 11,300 plastic balls, located just off the master bedroom. The property, listed at £799,995, includes a first-floor vestibule that the seller has transformed into a relaxation space.
Julie Williams, an IT consultant, created the ball pit as a birthday present to herself in March 2024. She was inspired by model Cara Delevingne, who once said, 'You can't really cry in a ball pit.' Williams described the space as 'so relaxing' and said it is enjoyed by both children and adults.
The ball pit was inaugurated with friends drinking rosé champagne. Williams noted that it serves as a 'new relaxation method for mums and dads' to hide away from children. The house went viral after being featured on the social media account Housing Horrors, which highlights quirky properties.
Williams initially considered turning the 'project room' into a bathroom but opted for the ball pit after a friend shared Delevingne's video. The pit and balls can remain if the new buyers wish. The house is located in leafy Birkdale village.
