Michael Carrick downplays Manchester United's away form concerns after Bournemouth draw

Michael Carrick has dismissed concerns over Manchester United's away form following a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, which extended their run to just two wins in eight games on the road. The Red Devils have won at Arsenal and Everton under Carrick, but those remain their only away successes since early December.

Speaking after the match, Carrick said: "This league's tough to win games. We've won a lot of games recently, so I think the amount of points we've accumulated in some of the performances and the results that we've had I think is a big positive." He added that home and away, the league is challenging, and he felt his side managed the game well in the end.

United led twice at the Vitality Stadium, with Bruno Fernandes opening the scoring from the penalty spot and later registering his 17th assist of the season when his corner was headed into his own net by James Hill. However, Bournemouth equalised twice, with Ryan Christie scoring shortly after Amad was denied what Carrick believed was a clear penalty. Harry Maguire was then sent off for fouling Evanilson in the box, allowing Junior Kroupi to score from the spot.

Despite the draw, Carrick's overall record remains strong, with only one defeat in 10 games in charge, that being at Newcastle. He remains focused on the positives as United continue their season.
