Christian Dumontet, the estranged husband of Netflix reality star Christine Quinn, has filed an urgent court request seeking sole legal ownership of a Los Angeles residence they once shared. According to documents filed in Los Angeles and reviewed by the Daily Mail, Dumontet states he has been spending a staggering $27,000 per month on the property in a desperate attempt to stop what he describes as a financial freefall.
Mounting Financial Pressure and Legal Battle
In his court filing submitted on Friday, the 47-year-old businessman revealed he wants to be legally awarded the home so he can sell it immediately. Dumontet emphasized that this action is necessary to pay off the mortgage and cease the ongoing financial losses associated with maintaining what he calls a non-income-producing asset. He purchased the property as an investment in 2019, just months before marrying Quinn, who is originally from Dallas and is now 37 years old.
Substantial Costs and Unsustainable Situation
Dumontet informed the court that he currently owes $3.5 million on the mortgage and has been sinking thousands of dollars into rent, security, and upkeep costs for the residence. He starkly stated, "This is not sustainable," in the court documents, adding, "I require immediate court intervention to stop this financial hemorrhaging." The emergency order request, however, was subsequently denied by the court.
Background of the Couple's Separation
Dumontet and Quinn, best known for her appearance on the Netflix series Selling Sunset, are parents to a four-year-old son named Christian. Their relationship ended in March 2024 following a series of alleged domestic violence incidents. During this period, Quinn obtained a temporary restraining order, leading to Dumontet being arrested twice within a span of hours.
In his latest court filing, Dumontet, who formerly went by the name Christian Richard, explained that the tumultuous events in his personal life left him unable "to act with respect" to the home. He noted that when he was permitted to return to the property to make changes, he invested thousands into repairs and renovations.
Current Living Situations and Ownership Claims
Dumontet disclosed that he is currently residing in France with his girlfriend and their one-year-old son. He asserts that he needs sole ownership to proceed with a critical sale of the Los Angeles property. According to his filing, Quinn does not live in the home and has not since around September 2025.
He further claimed that Quinn "has never made any financial contribution ... whether toward the purchase price, mortgage payments, carrying costs, maintenance, or otherwise." Dumontet told the court that Quinn is "not on the hook" monetarily for any costs resulting from the mortgage and repairs, stating, "I alone am suffering this harm, and without court intervention, I will continue to."
Quinn's Move and New Life in Texas
Following her split with Dumontet, Quinn moved back to her native Texas. In an interview with People last year, the reality star expressed her gratitude for living close to relatives, saying, "I have a sister who lives really close to me, and my son has a cousin. I found a wonderful house." She added, "I would say it's, like, 60 percent done, but there's still some things that I want to do and really take it to the next level because I love interior design."
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Christine Quinn for further comment on the matter, but no additional statements have been provided at this time.
