Cheapest autumn staycation dates revealed by Expedia

Expedia has released its Autumn Travel Outlook report, identifying the cheapest dates for Brits planning a UK holiday this autumn. According to the travel firm, both of the cheapest days to stay domestically across hotels and holiday homes fall in November, specifically November 8 and 22.

Quietest dates and price trends

November 10 and November 30 are also worth considering, as these dates have proven to be some of the quietest days in top UK destinations, ideal for avoiding crowds. Both fall mid-week, making them less popular but suitable for those not tied to weekends or school holidays.

On the other hand, November 1 was the most expensive day to stay domestically, likely due to a surge of interest after Halloween.

Regional discounts and price increases

The research found that Edinburgh and the Lake District can be cheaper than summer, with discounts of up to 10%. Seaside towns like Newquay, St Ives, Brighton, and the Isle of Wight see a drop of around 20% compared to summer rates, as peak holiday crowds have departed.

However, for city breaks, hotel prices may be slightly higher. The Expedia study showed that Birmingham, Liverpool, Cambridge, and Manchester all had raised prices in autumn compared to the summer months.
