October 2026 Premium Bonds: two savers scoop £1m each

The Premium Bond winners for October 2026 have been announced, with two savers each waking up £1million richer today.

There are two £1million Premium Bond winners every month. The first October winner lives in East Sussex and holds the maximum of £50,000 in Premium Bonds. They purchased their winning bond 331QY484133 in May 2018. The second winner is from Somerset, with £16,000 saved in Premium Bonds, and bought their winning bond 681KK770541 only three months ago in July this year.

Smaller prizes also paid out

One lucky saver with just £350 saved in Premium Bonds managed to scoop the second top prize of £100,000. Another person with £302 invested won £25,000.

Premium Bonds are a savings product by NS&I, which is backed by the Treasury, but instead of getting interest back on your money, you are entered into a monthly prize draw. The smallest monthly prize is £25 and the biggest is £1million, however, you are not guaranteed to win a prize every month - this means you may not win anything.

How the prize draw works

There are far more smaller prizes given out each month, versus the bigger sums. There are usually thousands of £25 prizes given out, versus just two £1million prizes.

The maximum you can have saved in Premium Bonds is £50,000 and for every £1 invested, you get a unique bond number. New Premium Bond purchases need to be held for one full calendar month before being entered into the monthly prize draw. The odds of a bond winning are currently 21,000 to 1 for every £1 bond, and the prize fund rate - the nearest thing Premium Bonds has to an interest rate - is currently 4.35%.

Checking for winnings

If you win a prize, you should be emailed or sent a text message from NS&I. You can then choose to have the money paid into your bank account, or reinvested into Premium Bonds.

You can also use the NS&I online prize checker tool, or the Premium Bonds prize checker app, to see if you've won. More than 22 million people currently have Premium Bonds.
