Toyota Aygo X Tops UK Reliability Survey 2026

The Toyota Aygo X, a compact city car, has been declared the UK's most reliable vehicle according to the latest Auto Express Driver Power Survey, outperforming rivals such as Kia, MINI, and Ford. The survey, which polled readers of the respected motoring magazine, found that reliability is the second most important factor for buyers after price when purchasing a new car.

Survey Results and Top Performers

The Mk3 Toyota Aygo X, which debuted in 2022, achieved a Driver Power reliability score of 94.09 percent, securing the top spot. Owners praised the vehicle for its ride quality, braking performance, and fuel economy, though some noted limited rear space due to its compact size. Auto Express concluded: "The Toyota Aygo X takes top honours this year as the most reliable car in the UK... The city car sector is fiercely competitive, but the Toyota Aygo X clearly nails its brief and has been a hit with its owners."

In second place was the Mazda CX-30 with a score of 93.37 percent, lauded for its driving dynamics and build quality but marked down for fuel consumption and running costs. Auto Express noted that it scored well on other costs like VED road tax and insurance.

Expert Advice on Used Car Purchases

James Hosking, Managing Director of AA Cars, urged caution when buying used or nearly-new vehicles. He stated: "When you're making one of the biggest purchases of your life, it's worth investing in an inspection to check whether you're making a good decision. You wouldn't buy a house without getting a survey, so why should a used car purchase be any different?"
