Mayborn Group, the Newcastle-based owner of the Tommee Tippee baby range, returned to profit in 2025 after a small rise in revenues. Newly released accounts for the company, based on the Baliol Business Park in Newcastle, show revenues increased slightly to £156.2m, while an operating loss of £73.6m the previous year was turned into an operating profit of £3.2m.
Improved Second-Half Performance
Directors said trading in the first half of the year was subdued due to a combination of internal factors and broader macroeconomic pressures, but experienced improvements in the second half. The company pointed to investments in brand, product innovation, digital capabilities and talent, which it said were bearing fruit.
The accounts state: “These initiatives have enhanced brand equity, strengthened market share across our core categories, and positioned the group for sustained growth. The directors are pleased with the group’s overall performance, delivered in the context of challenging market conditions. While the business continues to navigate pressures from cross-border trade costs, particularly tariffs in the United States, these have been successfully mitigated in part through strategic pricing and the group’s diversified manufacturing and commercial footprint.”
Outlook and Regional Sales
Looking ahead, the directors said they were confident of future growth and would continue to invest in research and development to stay ahead of competitors. Last year saw sales increases in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, but revenues fell in both the Americas and the Far East/Australasia. The company’s headcount remained broadly similar at 869, though fewer people were employed in production.
Mayborn Group CEO Stone Shi said: “2025 was a year of important progress for the Group. We delivered a profitable performance, strengthened margins and built positive momentum during the year. We continued to strengthen our brands and invest in innovation, with new product developments demonstrating our focus on responding to evolving consumer needs and creating opportunities for future growth.”
“At the same time, we maintained disciplined financial and operational management, generating strong cash flow, and maintaining a resilient balance sheet. While there remains further work to do, the group enters the new financial year with positive momentum and a clear focus on strengthening our brands, accelerating innovation, expanding our international presence and improving productivity and efficiency.”
