Baby products brand Nuby has selected Gateshead as the home of its new European headquarters, bringing a £5.7m investment to the area.
The company has moved into a 115,000 sq ft facility in Birtley, creating jobs and establishing a long-term base for its European operations. The site currently employs 58 people, with four new roles already created and further opportunities expected as the business expands.
New base for European operations
The Birtley facility will serve as Nuby's European headquarters, supporting future growth across finance, supply, product and marketing functions. The company is also planning further investment in the site, including the installation of solar panels as part of its commitment to sustainability.
Nuby offers a range of award-winning products, with its RapidCool portable baby bottle maker currently the UK's best-selling product in the baby accessories category. The company is also a certified Great Place to Work, with 83% of employees praising the workplace culture.
Location praised for connectivity
Nuby managing director Mark Dolan said: "We chose Gateshead because it provides a great central location for our team across the North East, while offering excellent access to the A1 for our haulage and logistics requirements. The new site gives us the space and facilities we need to support our future ambitions and continued growth across Europe."
Coun Steve Campion, Gateshead Council's cabinet member for economic development, said: "Nuby's decision to establish its European headquarters in Gateshead is fantastic news for the borough. This substantial investment demonstrates the confidence businesses have in Gateshead as a location that offers excellent connectivity, skilled people and the infrastructure needed to support growth."
