Liverpool to bank £1m from Bobby Clark's £6m Derby transfer with sell-on clause
Liverpool to bank £1m from Bobby Clark's Derby move

Liverpool are poised to benefit from a clever sell-on clause as former player Bobby Clark closes in on a permanent move to Derby County, with a medical scheduled for Monday. The Reds included a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause when they sold Clark to Red Bull Salzburg for approximately £10m in 2024, meaning they will receive just over £1m from his expected £6m transfer to the Championship side.

Clark's journey from Liverpool to Derby

Bobby Clark, son of former Premier League midfielder Lee Clark, joined Liverpool's academy in 2021 and made six first-team appearances before leaving for Salzburg in 2024. At Salzburg, he reunited with former Reds assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders, but struggled to establish himself. He was loaned to Derby County last season, scoring four goals in 45 appearances and being named the club's young player of the season as Derby narrowly missed the play-offs.

Financial boost for Liverpool's summer plans

While £1m is a modest sum, it provides a welcome addition to Liverpool's transfer budget. The Reds have already signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna, beating Newcastle United to his signature. They are now pursuing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, valued at around £87m, as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah. An initial bid was rejected, but Liverpool are expected to improve their offer. Diomande, currently playing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup, has hinted he would consider a Premier League move after the tournament.
