EDF Offers Free Electricity on Saturday for Customers Who Sign Up by Friday
EDF Free Electricity Saturday: Sign Up by Friday

EDF is reminding eligible customers that they can enjoy two hours of free electricity this Saturday if they complete one key step before the deadline. The offer applies during England's FIFA World Cup quarter-final against Norway on July 11, with kick-off at 10pm.

How to Get Free Electricity

Customers must sign up through the Energy Hub in their EDF MyAccount by 11:59pm on Friday, July 10. According to EDF, over 100,000 customers are already registered for the benefit, but others can still join before the deadline. The offer is not available via the EDF app.

To participate, customers need a working smart meter that sends half-hourly readings. They must also be an EDF domestic electricity customer aged 18 or over, living in England, Scotland, or Wales, on a tariff with no more than two unit rates, and have a valid mobile number on their account.

Free Electricity During the Match

Once signed up, customers automatically receive free electricity from 10pm for two hours. If the match goes to extra time, the free period extends to three hours. EDF's research found that 73% of people expect football matches to increase electricity use at home. The free electricity can be used for hosting guests, powering multiple screens, household chores, or simply relaxing.

Customers will also receive free electricity during all remaining matches played by England or Scotland in the tournament, as long as they continue to meet eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

To take part, customers must meet all conditions: be an EDF domestic electricity customer aged 18 or over, live in England, Scotland, or Wales, have a working smart meter sending half-hourly readings, be on a tariff with no more than two unit rates, and have a valid mobile number on their account.
