Shearer said: 'I think he'll stay. I think it would be a really bad look for Newcastle if they sold Tonali and Guimarães. And there'd be a lot of angry fans and rightly so. Because he's a very, very talented player and I think he's been great for Newcastle.' He added that Guimaraes understands the area and the football club, and would be happy if the player committed to Newcastle.
The former England striker also addressed the valuation, noting that if Tonali was worth £100 million, then Guimaraes would be worth more. Shearer speculated that the transfer rumours might be driven by the player's agent seeking a new deal.
