Rooney urges Man Utd to sign four more players

Wayne Rooney has called on Manchester United to make four more signings and told Marcus Rashford he must improve his body language if he is to stay at the club. United are preparing for the new Premier League season, which starts this weekend, but transfers remain the focus.

Three signings already completed

The Red Devils have made three new signings so far this summer, with Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow all moving to Old Trafford. United have until September 1 to complete their transfer business, and Rooney has named the four positions he wants to see strengthened before the deadline.

Lewis-Skelly identified as target

Rooney believes Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly could be a valuable addition, while also naming three other areas of the pitch he would address with reinforcements. Speaking on the first episode of Stick to United from The Overlap, Rooney said: "I thought Luke Shaw had a really good season last season, but he didn’t have the best game against AC Milan. So I don’t think you can rely on Luke Shaw to be consistent for the whole season."

"That leads me to Lewis-Skelly, and we’re hearing that he’s available for not much money. I think it’s an absolute no-brainer. If you can get a player who can play left-back, he can play centre midfield. He’s young, he’s got a massive future ahead of him. I think it’s an absolute no-brainer if you can bring him in."

Other positions to strengthen

Rooney added: "I’d like to see another centre-back, I’d like to see another central midfield player and another centre forward. So I think there’s still a lot of work there to be done, but I think it’s really important that the players they do bring in, they get it right and they get the right players in."

This is a breaking news story and more updates will follow as they become available.
