Rangers are leading the race to sign Sturm Graz defensive midfielder Ryan Fosso and are in active talks with the player's representatives, according to Sky Sports Switzerland. The 24-year-old Cameroon international has also attracted interest from Serie A side Torino and La Liga club Levante, but the Ibrox club is reportedly furthest along in negotiations.
Fosso's Rapid Rise
Fosso only joined Sturm Graz in January 2026 for a fee of £900,000 from Fortuna Sittard, but his impressive performances in the Austrian Bundesliga have quickly drawn attention. Born in Lugano, Switzerland, he began his career at Young Boys before moving to Vaduz in Liechtenstein. After two years there, he joined Fortuna Sittard on a free transfer, where his displays earned him a move to Sturm Graz just six months ago.
Despite signing a long-term contract in Graz, interest from multiple clubs suggests his stay may be short-lived. Rangers will need to negotiate a substantial fee to secure his release.
Midfield Overhaul at Ibrox
Rangers boss Derek McInnes is keen to strengthen his central midfield options. The club is also in talks with Partizan Belgrade for captain Vanja Gragojevic, indicating a potential overhaul. This could pave the way for Nico Raskin's departure, as the Belgian midfielder is expected to be sold following his World Cup campaign with Belgium.
Additionally, the Rangers Review reports that Tromsø have placed an £8.5 million price tag on 20-year-old Norwegian midfielder Jens Hjertø-Dahl, who remains a target for the Light Blues.
