Manchester United are preparing a £30 million bid for West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville as they look to replace Marcus Rashford, who is expected to return to Old Trafford after Barcelona declined to make his loan permanent.
Summerville seen as ideal replacement for Rashford
Summerville, who impressed for the Netherlands at the World Cup, is expected to leave West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League. The former Leeds United star has attracted interest from Arsenal as well, but United have made him their top target to bolster the left side of their attack, according to the Guardian.
United's preference is to offload the 28-year-old Rashford, whose future remains uncertain. Barcelona opted to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United instead of making Rashford's loan permanent, leaving the England star to return to Carrington after the World Cup.
Midfield rebuild ongoing
United have already strengthened their midfield with the arrivals of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, the latter through a £35 million release clause. However, the club is still seeking a third midfielder before the new season begins.
An approach has been made for Roma's Manu Kone, with the Serie A side reportedly willing to let him leave for £51 million. Alex Scott and Eduardo Camavinga are also on Michael Carrick's radar, but their asking prices of around £80 million make moves unlikely.
West Ham open to selling but want more than £30m
West Ham are open to selling Summerville, but reports earlier in the summer suggested it could take considerably more than £30 million to secure his departure from the London Stadium. The Dutchman's stock has risen further after a string of impressive performances at the World Cup.
