UK swimwear brand and 3 more firms enter administration

Four UK companies, including a beloved swimwear brand and a major crisp producer, have entered administration, citing rising costs and challenging trading conditions. The firms are Amber Beverage Group UK, Away That Day Ltd, Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd and Pneuride.

Amber Beverage Group UK collapses after 27 years

Amber Beverage Group UK, a major alcohol distributor, has collapsed into administration after 27 years of trading. More than 25 staff members have been made redundant. The business, established in 1999, supplied wine and spirit brands to retailers including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Co-op. Official public records show it went into administration on Monday (October 19) following several unsuccessful attempts to sell the business. Its principal brands include Moskovskaya Vodka, Rooster Rojo Tequila, KAH Tequila, The Irishman Whiskey, Writers' Tears Whiskey, Riga Black Balsam, Cross Keys Gin and Cosmopolitan Diva.

Swimwear brand and crisp producer follow

Away That Day Ltd, a UK swimwear firm focused on sustainable swimwear, has also fallen into administration, according to a notice in the London Gazette. The company was founded in 2019 "with a purpose to create stylish, high-quality & eco-friendly summerwear for women around the globe".

Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd, the beloved crisp brand, has collapsed after 54 years of trading and will cease production entirely. Established in 1972, the company supplied potatoes to retailers across the UK and Ireland. In 2015, it launched the Glens of Antrim Crisps brand, which secured shelf space in Tesco and Sainsbury's. The company cited mounting pressures in the agri-food sector, including rising employment costs and fuel and energy prices, which made the business no longer financially sustainable.

Engineering firm Pneuride enters administration

Pneuride, a Coventry-based automotive engineering company, has entered administration after almost two decades of trading, placing more than 50 jobs at risk. The firm supplied advanced electronic control systems and air suspension components before ceasing operations.
