UK alcohol supplier, crisp brand and swimwear firm enter administration

The number of UK businesses entering administration and shutting down at the beginning of the year was alarmingly high. As we head nearer to the conclusion of 2026, it appears the frequency of company administrations shows no signs of diminishing.

Administration represents a legal procedure in which an administrator is designated to assist in rescuing an insolvent firm. This frequently involves restructuring and the disposal of certain company assets.

Companies have identified rising costs, increasing financial pressure, and challenging trading conditions as principal factors behind their decisions.

Amber Beverage Group UK

Leading UK alcohol distributor Amber Beverage Group UK has fallen into administration following 27 years of trading. It has been verified that more than 25 employees have been made redundant.

The business, which was established in 1999, supplied wine and spirit products to retailers including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, and Co-op. Official public records reveal that Amber Beverage Group UK (ABG UK) went into administration on Monday (October 19) following several unsuccessful attempts to sell the company.

Its principal brands comprise Moskovskaya Vodka, Rooster Rojo Tequila, KAH Tequila, The Irishman Whiskey, Writers' Tears Whiskey, Riga Black Balsam, Cross Keys Gin, and Cosmopolitan Diva.

Glens of Antrim Potatoes

Nostalgic crisp manufacturer Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd has collapsed into administration after 54 years of operation and will cease producing snacks.

Established back in 1972, the firm has been supplying potatoes to shops across the UK and Ireland. Moving forward to 2015, and they took an exciting step by launching the Glens of Antrim Crisps brand into the marketplace. The crisps swiftly appeared on the shelves of some of Britain's largest supermarkets, including major names such as Tesco and Sainsbury's.

The company pointed to difficulties stemming from increasing costs within the agri-food industry, including wage expenses and fuel and energy charges, which rendered continuing the business financially unviable.

Away That Day Ltd and Pneuride

The UK swimwear firm Away That Day is amongst the most recent fashion brands to go into administration, as stated in a notice published in the London Gazette. The enterprise focuses on sustainable swimwear, with a particular emphasis on reducing the environmental footprint of its activities. According to the firm's website, it was founded in 2019 "with a purpose to create stylish, high-quality & eco-friendly summerwear for women around the globe".

British automotive engineering company Pneuride has fallen into administration after almost two decades of trading, placing more than 50 jobs at risk. The Coventry-based business supplied sophisticated electronic control systems and air suspension components before closing down.
