Money-saving expert Jordon Cox, known as The Coupon King, has revealed the optimal times for shoppers to visit Marks & Spencer Food stores to secure the best discounts. In a new video, Cox recommends arriving at 9am when stores open to take advantage of yellow sticker reductions placed overnight.
Why 9am is the Prime Time for Discounts
According to Cox, yellow sticker discounts are applied overnight, meaning early birds get first pick of reduced items. He explained: “Yellow sticker discounts get put out overnight, so if you’re there at the crack of dawn, you’ll get first dibs over all the good stuff.” This strategy targets shoppers seeking bargains on fresh produce, cupboard staples, and other grocery items.
Afternoon Sweet Spot for Bakery Bargains
For those with a sweet tooth, Cox suggests a different timing. He noted that shoppers looking for discounted cronuts and other bakery items should visit around 4pm. “But if you want cheaper cronuts in the bakery, around 4pm is the time that you want,” he said. Cox regularly appears on ITV’s This Morning to share money-saving tips.
M&S Expanding Its Food Business
Marks & Spencer currently operates hundreds of M&S Food stores across the UK, with plans to reach 420 locations by April 2028. The retailer is increasingly investing in its food division. Earlier this month, a new 10,600-square-foot M&S store opened on Tottenham Court Road in central London, featuring an in-store bakery, coffee counter with barista-made drinks, and a Fresh Market Specials area with seasonal products. This store replaces a previous location and is closer to the London Underground station.
The Tottenham Court Road opening is part of a broader expansion: M&S is opening four new stores in London this financial year and transforming an additional six stores, creating more than 150 new jobs in total. The launch follows the opening of a new M&S Food store in Tooting Broadway last month.
