Plus-size fashion brand Evans has returned to UK physical retail after a six-year absence, opening dedicated concessions inside over 50 Yours Clothing stores across the UK and Ireland. The move marks the brand's first high street presence since its parent company Arcadia Group collapsed into administration in November 2020.
Evans, which caters to sizes 14 to 32, closed all of its 100-plus standalone stores when Arcadia fell. The brand was sold to Australian retailer City Chic Collective in December 2020 and continued online only. In 2023, City Chic sold Evans to AK Retail, the parent company of Yours Clothing, for £8 million.
Out of the more than 50 Yours Clothing locations now stocking Evans, 36 have been upgraded to feature full, permanent Evans-branded sections. Stores include Liverpool, Swansea, Watford, Nottingham, Hempstead Valley and Glasgow Braehead.
A Yours Clothing spokesperson said: 'Plus-size women are among the most loyal fashion shoppers in the UK. When a brand gets it right – when the fit works, the range is genuine, and the product reflects real women, they come back. Evans earned that loyalty over decades.'
Founded in 1930 by Jack Green as Evans Outsize, the brand was one of the first UK high street retailers to mass-market fashionable womenswear for sizes 14 and above. At its peak in the late 1990s and 2000s, it operated over 300 locations worldwide.
