Montenegro Hotel Siro Boka Place: A Fitness Haven in the Bay of Kotor

After three days at Siro Boka Place in Montenegro, I felt like an Olympic athlete. The hotel, which opened last year, boasts state-of-the-art wellness facilities so impressive that the Montenegrin Olympic team is training there ahead of Los Angeles 2028.

Exploring the Bay of Kotor

My companions and I started with an ebike tour around the bay, cycling from designer shops and luxury restaurants to charming old fishing villages. We pedaled to the tip of the promontory to see the islet Our Lady of the Rocks, then circled back to face Kotor's old town. A switchback mountain road tested our legs, but the electric assistance made it manageable.

Hiking and Kayaking Adventures

The next day, we hiked Vrmac mountain trails to Gornja Lastva, a half-abandoned village, and then to St Vid church for panoramic picnic views. In the afternoon, we kayaked the calm waters of the bay, with the option to continue to the Blue Cave on the Luštica peninsula.

These activities can be booked through Siro, which partners with local companies. Guests can also go running, rock climbing, canyoning, paddleboarding, or try watersports like wakeboarding and efoiling.

Fitness and Recovery Facilities

Back at the hotel, group classes run five times daily on weekdays and twice on weekends. I tried yoga, pilates, and mindful strength, while options like Hyrox and full body blitz cater to high-intensity seekers. The 1,600 sq m fitness lab has cardio, weights, and functional training zones. A 25-metre outdoor pool on the third floor overlooks the marina.

The spa, or recovery lab, offers treatments like red light therapy in a pod, which uses near-infrared wavelengths to reduce inflammation and rejuvenate skin. I also tried compression boot therapy, which inflated from toes to thighs before releasing, leaving my legs feeling light.

Nutrition and Sleep

A body composition analysis using bioelectrical impedance provided detailed metrics. I scored 88/100 and had a consultation with dietitian Hélène Boussiard, who offered advice on diet and lifestyle. Rooms come with a Swedish ladder, wellness ball, weights, resistance bands, and yoga mat. Sleep aids include meditation playlists, temperature-controlled mattresses, and sunrise alarm clocks.

The restaurant, Siro Table, serves healthy food with vegetable-based dishes and protein add-ons, but also offers chips, desserts, and wine. The Refuel Bar has smoothies, while the rooftop bar serves cocktails with DJs on Fridays.

After three days, I felt like an Olympic athlete. Now to maintain it at home. Doubles from €120, including gym, sauna, pool, one fitness class per day, and one body composition analysis.
