Gold Crest Holidays, a family-run coach tour operator based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, has ceased trading with immediate effect, cancelling all future trips. The company, which specialised in holidays to Disneyland Paris, European city breaks and major sporting events, announced on 23 January 2026 that it had entered voluntary liquidation after more than 30 years in business.
The firm, which also traded under the names Advent, Advent Tours and Overseas Dream Weddings, cited the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, changes to key partner arrangements, and a challenging trading environment driven by sharply rising costs as reasons for the closure. In a statement on its website, the company said it was “deeply saddened” to be unable to continue and thanked customers, travel agents, suppliers and staff for their loyalty.
ABTA, the travel trade association, confirmed that Gold Crest Holidays is now being treated as a financial failure and is managing refunds for affected customers. All future packages have been cancelled. Passengers holding tickets for certain events are advised to contact event organisers, as those tickets may still be valid, though alternative travel and accommodation will need to be arranged.
Customers who booked directly with Gold Crest Holidays are urged to follow ABTA’s guidance, while those who booked through a travel agent should contact their agent first. Credit card payments may be eligible for refunds via the card issuer. The company had previously enjoyed a strong reputation, with many five-star reviews on Trustpilot.
