A burnt-out British woman who cried every day at work has moved to Australia and claims her salary has doubled. Wynter Yeomans, 26, relocated from Nottingham to Sydney with her partner Luke Richards in February 2025, seeking a better work-life balance.
Within three months, she secured a marketing job, earning £48,000 ($90,500 AUD) compared to her previous £25,000 role in pharmaceutical marketing. Despite paying $1,500 (£795) in rent, she says other costs like coffee and food are cheaper than in the UK.
Yeomans described her final months in the UK as 'a dark place', saying she cried daily and broke out in rashes due to stress. She added that she no longer 'lives for the weekend' and enjoys evenings at the beach or BBQs with friends.
However, she warned that moving abroad is not always easy, noting it took three months to find a job and that social media can paint an unrealistic picture. 'It can be really scary picking up your whole life and moving,' she said, but encouraged others to 'trust the process'.
