Urgent Food Recalls: Tesco, Young's, BOSS Products Pulled Over Allergy and Salmonella Risks
Urgent 'Do Not Eat' Warnings for Cakes, Pies and Fish

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a series of urgent alerts over the past week, warning shoppers not to consume a range of food items. The recalls affect products including mince pies, cakes, and frozen fish, due to undeclared allergens and potential Salmonella contamination.

Major Retailers Issue Urgent Product Recalls

Tesco has recalled its Free From 4 Christmas Chocolate Flavoured Cupcakes because they may contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. This poses a significant risk to anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance. The affected product comes in a 220g pack, and all items with a best before date up to and including 17 January 2026 are included in the recall. Customers are advised to return the cupcakes to any Tesco store for a full refund.

Separately, Young's Seafood is recalling its Gastro Lemon & Pepper Fish Fillets (270g) due to undeclared mustard. The specific batch has the code F2 L5283 and a best before date of end of October 2026. Anyone allergic to mustard should not eat this product and should return it to their point of purchase.

Salmonella Risk in Nougat Prompts England and Wales Alert

In a serious safety alert, London Wholesalers Ltd has recalled BOSS Sugar Free Persian Pistachio Nougat (300g) after Salmonella was detected. This recall applies only to consumers in England and Wales. The affected batch has the code 140408 and a best before date of 9 September 2027.

The FSA warns that Salmonella infection symptoms typically include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should avoid work, school, or nursery until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours to prevent spreading the illness. Consumers should return the product for a complete refund.

Further Allergy Warnings for Mince Pies and Chocolate Bars

The Bakewell Bakery has recalled its Shallow Brandy Mince Pies (pack of six) because they contain milk not listed on the packaging. Pies with best before dates of 2, 3, 4, and 5 February 2026 are affected. The bakery urges customers with a dairy allergy or intolerance to return the product for a refund, with no receipt required.

Additionally, Brookie Bakes is recalling its Dubai Bar Pistachio & Knafeh (68g) due to the potential presence of undeclared peanuts. This recall applies to all batch codes and all best before dates. Those with a peanut allergy are advised not to eat this product.

For all recalled items, the advice is clear: do not consume them. Instead, take them back to the store where they were bought to receive a full refund. Staying informed about FSA alerts is crucial for protecting yourself and your family from potential food safety hazards.
