Tesco Recalls Celery Salad Over Mustard Allergy Risk
Tesco recalls salad over undeclared mustard allergy risk

Supermarket giant Tesco has issued an urgent product recall for a popular lunchtime item over fears it could make people with a specific allergy ill.

What Product Has Been Recalled?

Tesco is recalling specific batches of its Tesco Celery, Fruit & Nut Salad 300g. The recall was initiated because the product contains mustard, which is not declared on the label. This omission poses a significant health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to mustard.

The affected batch can be identified by its use by date of December 2, 2025. Tesco has advised that customers who have purchased this product and have a mustard allergy should not consume it.

What Should Customers Do?

In an official recall notice, Tesco stated: “We’re recalling a specific date code of Tesco Celery, Fruit & Nut Salad 300g. This is due to the presence of mustard in the mayonnaise element of the product.”

The supermarket has provided clear instructions for affected customers. You can return the product to any Tesco store for a full refund, and no receipt is required. Shoppers are encouraged to use the Tesco store locator to find their nearest branch.

Other Recent Product Recalls

This Tesco recall follows several other recent product safety alerts in the UK. Last month, two baby formula brands, Aptamil and Kendamil, were recalled from B&M stores due to a date-related issue where some products were found to have an expiry date of October 8.

In a separate incident, Amazon recalled a children’s swim vest over fears it could pose a “serious risk of drowning.” The Petiyark Neoprene Swim Vest was deemed dangerous due to conflicting sizing limits and a lack of bright colours, making it difficult to spot in water.

Additionally, Waitrose recalled its Indian Takeaway for two because some packs were mispacked with spring rolls containing undeclared sesame and soya, allergens not mentioned on the label.

For the latest information on product recalls, consumers are advised to check the websites of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTS).
