Italian food brand Seggiano has issued a recall for certain batches of two nougat products due to undeclared allergens. The affected items include the Chocolate Covered Torrone and the Pistachio and Chocolate Covered Torrone, which may contain milk and soya lecithin not listed on the packaging.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned that the products pose a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or soya. Seggiano confirmed that one batch of Chocolate Covered Torrone omitted soya lecithin from the label, while two batches of the Pistachio and Chocolate Covered Torrone failed to declare both soya lecithin and milk.
The brand has advised customers with these allergies not to eat the confectionery and to return it to the point of purchase for a full refund. The FSA stated that Seggiano has contacted relevant allergy support organisations and issued point-of-sale notices to inform consumers.
