Audio from a 911 call has revealed TikTok influencer Sara Gilson, 43, was heard screaming before her husband Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, 48, fatally shot her and then himself at their home in Owasso, Oklahoma on July 23. The couple were found dead after a child in the home called emergency services.
911 call reveals screams and gunshot
Dispatch audio from 11:15 p.m. local time on July 23 shows dispatchers discussing a call for help at Gilson’s home. A dispatcher told first responders: “I’m trying to reach him back, but I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying. Some sort of loud bang in the background.”
The dispatcher later referenced “a male that we were looking for a few weeks ago after he got caught kissing a juvenile” and mentioned “a gun.” At around 11:18 p.m., authorities confirmed emergency services had arrived. The couple were found deceased after a child at the residence made the 911 call.
Netflix documentary trend led to accusations
Weeks before the shooting, Gilson posted a TikTok video claiming her husband was a paedophile. The video was part of a trend where users pretend to sit for an interview as if featured in a Netflix documentary. The caption read: “I wish I was joking. #plottwist #netflix #documentary.”
Gilson wrote: “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile.”
Protective orders and prior allegations
Authorities stated Duffey shot Gilson then turned the weapon on himself. In 2021, Gilson filed two protective orders against Duffey, but they were dismissed after she did not appear at the hearing, according to The Oklahoman. On June 10, she filed an emergency protective order, leading to Duffey being ordered from the home and required to stay 100 yards away, PEOPLE reports. The order was extended to August 24 on June 23.
Gilson claimed in the order that Duffey had a gun and threatened to end his life “and went on the run.” On the same date, another woman filed a protective order on behalf of her 15-year-old daughter against Duffey, who coached the girl’s youth basketball team. The mother alleged Duffey kissed and touched the girl and was caught by another coach, per The Oklahoman. The child also claimed Duffey sent her messages, invited her to his hotel room during a tournament trip, and offered money “to keep her quiet.”
