Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have uncovered a secret twin storyline involving Kit Green on the long-running soap. Kit (Jacob Roberts) first appeared in 2024 as the estranged son of Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove).
Since arriving in Weatherfield, the police officer has been at the centre of major storylines, from shady dealings at work to the revelation of his son Brody (Ryan Mulvey). In September, Kit received a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer, which had spread to his lymph nodes, following the death of his great-aunt Celeste (Frances Barber), who had alerted the family to the possibility they may carry the familial BRCA gene.
Fans Point to Kirk Sutherland as Kit's Twin
Now, fans are adamant that a shock twin twist is on the horizon. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer suggested Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment): "Omg what a change Kit could be Kirk's twin."
Another viewer commented: "They do look alike", while a third wrote: "Wouldn't put it past the writers at this point."
Kit's Cancer Storyline Raises Awareness
Carrying a familial BRCA gene mutation means inheriting a harmful change in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes from a parent, which significantly raises the lifetime risk of developing certain cancers. The Coronation Street production team is working closely with Macmillan Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Now to accurately portray Kit's cancer while raising awareness of the risks among men.
Kit had his head shaved ahead of starting chemotherapy on Monday's episode. Jacob Roberts, who portrays Kit, said: "I genuinely didn't know that men could get breast cancer and I felt, to make it authentic, that Kit shouldn't know that men can get breast cancer either."
He added: "Speaking to the charities and male survivors has been really insightful, lots of men don't know they can get this and for Kit it's that utter disbelief of how can this be? Not only for his age, but how can I have this as a bloke and who else in the family could be affected."
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
