Sainsbury's adds Nectar points to Uber Eats orders at 1,300 stores
Sainsbury's adds Nectar points to Uber Eats orders

Sainsbury's has introduced a change to its Nectar loyalty scheme, allowing customers to collect points on rapid grocery deliveries ordered through Uber Eats. The update means shoppers can now earn one Nectar point for every £1 spent when ordering Sainsbury's groceries via the Uber Eats app or website, with the service available from more than 1,300 stores across the UK.

How the new Nectar points work on Uber Eats

To collect points, shoppers need to link their Nectar card in the Uber Eats app and then place an order for Sainsbury's groceries. Each £1 spent automatically earns one Nectar point. To spend points, customers open the Nectar app, go to 'Partners', and swap Nectar points for an Uber voucher, which can be used on Uber rides or Uber Eats food deliveries.

Sainsbury's said the integration builds on its existing capability to redeem points for Uber vouchers, enabling customers to collect and spend Nectar points across the Uber ecosystem.

Quotes from Sainsbury's and Uber Eats executives

Mark Given, Sainsbury's chief technology, marketing and data officer, said: “We’re creating even more ways for people to get great value from Nectar through our partnership with Uber. Nectar members can already turn their points into Uber rides or Uber Eats treats - and now they can collect points when ordering Sainsbury’s groceries through Uber Eats too. It’s another way we’re helping customers get more from Nectar, whether they’re stocking up on essentials, planning dinner or making everyday life that little bit easier.”

Katie Hunter, Uber Eats general manager for grocery and retail in the UK, added: “We know how much Uber Eats customers love Nectar, so bringing points directly to their Sainsbury’s orders was a no-brainer. Now, they can collect Nectar points on all their Sainsbury's essentials as well as spending them across the entire Uber app. It’s all about delivering flexibility, convenience, and value for customers right alongside their favourite groceries.”

Uber Eats partners with more than 700,000 restaurants and merchants, including local favourites, national brands, groceries and household essentials, with an average global delivery time of 30 minutes.
