Urgent Recall: Anko Pop & Surprise Playset Poses Choking Hazard
Recall: Anko Pop & Surprise Playset Choking Hazard

An urgent product recall has been announced for a popular children's toy sold across major retailers Kmart and Target, following an official warning from the consumer watchdog.

Immediate Safety Risk Identified

The affected product is the Anko-brand Pop and Surprise Playset, which has been flagged by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). The toys, marketed specifically for children under three years old, pose a serious choking hazard due to their removable parts.

'The concern stems from their removable parts,' the ACCC stated. 'Small screws may separate from the toy and become a choking hazard.' This design flaw presents a risk of serious injury or death by choking if a child places the detached small parts in their mouth. The commission confirmed that incidents related to this issue have already occurred.

What Consumers Must Do Now

Authorities are urging all consumers to stop using this toy immediately and to keep it out of reach of children. The Vietnamese-made products were found not to comply with the mandatory safety standard for toys intended for children up to and including 36 months of age.

All affected customers are eligible for a full refund. Purchasers should return the product to their place of purchase. The ACCC provides specific guidance for those who cannot return the product directly or who have gifted it, advising them to contact the place of purchase for instructions.
