Powerball Jackpot Hits £411m After Series of Rollovers

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to a staggering £411 million, lottery chiefs revealed today. Just weeks after launching in the UK, Powerball is generating huge excitement as UK players join the game at a time of one of its biggest ever rollovers.

If won by a UK player, it would be the biggest ever lottery win here, eclipsing the current record of £195M won by an anonymous ticket-holder on EuroMillions in 2022.

Historic Rollover Run

Thursday's draw will mark the 40th consecutive rollover draw. The longest jackpot run in Powerball history stands at 47 consecutive draws. That culminated in the $1.817bn (£1.336 bn) jackpot won on Christmas Eve last year.

The lucky jackpot winner was in Arkansas, former US President Bill Clinton's home state, and the game has created multi-millionaires across the United States. So far in 2026, five jackpots have been won. Prior to the current run, the largest Powerball jackpot won this year was $250.8 million, again claimed in Arkansas in March.

UK Launch and Excitement

The Powerball game was launched at Bekonscot Model Village in Buckinghamshire in July. UK players are now in the running for the chance to land the colossal top prize.

Andy Carter, Senior Winner’s Advisor at Allwyn, operator of the National Lottery, says, “The UK is only weeks into its Powerball journey and already players have the chance to play for £411 million. This is one of the biggest jackpots in Powerball history. This kind of win isn't just life-changing, it's potentially generation-changing. It could help a winner support their family for decades, fulfil lifelong ambitions, champion causes they care about and leave a lasting mark on their community. Get your tickets by 11.55pm on Wednesday 5 August to be in with a chance of winning this unbelievable prize.”

How to Play

Powerball launched in the UK in partnership with the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), a non-profit association owned and operated by its member lotteries. With 48 US-based lotteries already participating in Powerball, Allwyn launched a tailored version of the game for UK players.

Priced at £4 per line, UK players can play for a chance to win the shared jackpot by matching five main numbers plus the Powerball, with the jackpot paid to UK winners over 30 years. The UK game features an additional 'Match 2 main numbers' prize tier, available only to UK players, which offers a fixed prize of £8. The 'Match 5 main numbers' tier also offers a fixed prize of £1M, while all other prize tiers offer estimated prizes, which vary depending on the numbers drawn and the number of winners in each tier.

Players choose five main numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26, or can opt for a Lucky Dip.
