Mum's £14.99 Facebook Fake Teeth Look Like Sweets

Karen Soper, a 58-year-old grandmother from Neath, Wales, bought fake teeth on Facebook for £14.99 after seeing an advert promising 'simple at-home moldable dentures' that would help her 'smile confidently again'. The retired carer, who lost all her teeth to gum disease 20 years ago, was horrified when the package arrived on Monday, June 1, revealing dentures made of 'solid, cheap plastic' that instantly fell out of her mouth.

Advert vs Reality

The Facebook advert, linked to a page with just 18 followers, showed users confidently eating apples and corn on the cob while wearing the dentures. However, the product Karen received looked nothing like the advertisement. She described them as resembling Haribo teeth sweets, insisting that the candy looked better than her new gnashers.

Karen said: 'I don't have any teeth at all, I lost them about 20 years ago. I had gum disease and had to have them all out. I've been wearing dentures but they just keep falling out all the time. I'm really self-conscious of them and can't afford to get them professionally done. It really bothers me.'

Failed Attempts to Use the Product

Despite repeated attempts, the dentures would not stay in her mouth. 'I tried to put them in and they just fell out my mouth. It looks exactly like the teeth sweets you can buy, the Haribo sweets teeth look nicer,' she said. Karen, a mother of three and grandmother of four, urged others not to make the same mistake, warning that someone is 'making an absolute fortune' from these low-quality items that likely cost 20p to produce.

Karen added: 'I've ordered stuff from Facebook before and it's been fine. I just want to tell people not to get stung as well.' Facebook has been approached for comment.
