A new spring menu at Marks and Spencer cafés has introduced a popcorn-inspired latte, priced at £4.20. The drink, called the buttered popcorn latte, is described as having 'notes of toasted corn' and is part of a range of iced beverages and milkshakes for milder weather.
One customer, who tried the drink for the first time, admitted initial scepticism, finding the concept of popcorn-flavoured coffee unusual. However, after tasting it, they were pleasantly surprised, noting a dominant butterscotch flavour that was indulgent without being overly sweet. The coffee had a noticeable kick, balanced by milk and cream.
The reviewer praised the drink's creamy and sweet profile, comparing it to a butterscotch-flavoured coffee. They said it evoked the comforting feeling of eating cinema popcorn, despite not tasting distinctly of popcorn itself. The verdict was that they would order it again, despite initial doubts.
The only criticism was that the popcorn flavour was not pronounced, but the buttery warmth was reminiscent of the cinema experience. The drink is one of several new items on M&S's spring menu for 2026.
