A savvy cleaner has discovered an inexpensive method to banish oven grime using Morrisons own-brand dishwasher tablets, costing just 8p each. The hack, shared in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, promises a sparkling oven in under 30 minutes with minimal effort.
The woman explained that she had tried various commercial cleaners including Elbow Grease spray, Pink Stuff, and Cif oven cleaner, but none could restore her oven door's clarity. She said: 'I bought the cheapest dishwasher tablets I could find (Morrison's own make) and cleaned my entire oven and hob with them. It took less than 30 minutes.'
The method involves spraying hot water inside the oven, on the door, and the hob, then scrubbing with the dishwasher tablet. After scrubbing, she wiped all surfaces with a clean wet sponge to rinse, followed by kitchen towel to dry. She emphasised the importance of wearing gloves to avoid prolonged skin contact with the tablets.
A pack of 40 Morrisons dishwasher tablets costs approximately £3.29, making each tablet around 8p. This offers a budget-friendly alternative to specialist oven cleaners. For those preferring a non-chemical approach, a simple paste of baking soda and water left overnight can also effectively break down burnt-on grease.
