Lidl Offers £25 Free Voucher: Shoppers Must Act Before July 28
Lidl £25 Free Voucher: Act Before July 28

Lidl has announced a giveaway offering shoppers the chance to win a free £25 voucher, but they must enter before midnight on Tuesday, July 28. The voucher can be spent in store on fresh food and everyday essentials, providing relief for families facing higher grocery bills during the summer holidays when children are home from school.

The promotion comes as Lidl's research reveals widespread confusion among children about food origins and healthy eating. Some youngsters mistakenly believe tomato ketchup, strawberry milkshake, or even cake count toward their five-a-day, while others think broccoli comes from a factory, a freezer, or grows on trees.

Summer Holiday Food Challenges

Lidl's research found that almost three in 10 parents (29%) worry about the cost of nutritious meals during the six-week school break. To address this, the supermarket has partnered with youth charity OnSide to launch free Lidl Foodies Summer Clubs in Bristol, Carlisle, Croydon, Manchester, and Wolverhampton.

The clubs will teach around 1,000 children how to prepare quick, healthy meals they can recreate at home. Each child also receives a free fruit coupon through the Lidl Plus app. The hands-on approach appears effective, with nearly a third of children (32%) saying they are more likely to try healthier foods if they helped prepare them.

Additional Support and Investment

Georgina Hall, director of corporate affairs at Lidl GB, said: "As busy families prepare for six weeks without the school routine, we know that providing healthy meals can feel challenging. Our Lidl Foodies Summer Clubs will give kids hands-on experience in the kitchen while making healthy food prep fun, helping to build their enjoyment of fruit and vegetables."

Jamie Masraff, CEO of OnSide, added: "We know that the school holidays can be a challenging time for many families, with the loss of routine and additional financial pressures making it harder to access activities and healthy meals. That's why partnerships like this are so important."

Lidl is investing an additional £100,000 into the Summer Club initiative, building on the £675,000 already committed to its Lidl Foodies programme. Now in its second year, the scheme runs in more than a quarter of UK primary schools and has reached around 640,000 children.
