A food influencer known as the 'Grumpy Northern Foodie' has reviewed two Hotel Chocolat Ostrich Easter eggs, each costing £90, and found a significant drawback: the price.
Reviewing the 'Everything Easter Ostrich Egg', the influencer noted the first half was dark chocolate, described as 'very dark' and 'proper bitter', which he said 'won't be for everyone'. He praised the flavour and thick chocolate but gave it 7/10. The second half was a milk chocolate portion with biscuit pieces, which he called 'easy to eat and very accessible', scoring it 8/10.
The second egg, the 'Patisserie Ostrich Egg', features a brownie-inspired half and a cookies and cream half. The brownie half scored 9/10, described as 'indulgent without being overpowering'. The cookies and cream half scored lower, but was still 'solid'.
Despite positive remarks on taste, the influencer highlighted the difficulty in justifying the £90 price tag. The review, posted on Instagram, garnered over 3,900 likes and mixed reactions, with some saying they would not pay that much, while others called it a 'delicious treat'.
