Halifax Customers to Be Contacted Over Lloyds Rebrand, No Action Needed
Halifax Customers: No Action Needed on Lloyds Rebrand

Over the next few months, the Halifax brand will be gradually phased out and customers will be moved over to Lloyds Bank. In the latest update, Which? experts told existing Halifax customers that they shouldn't worry about being left behind in the migration. Halifax, including its branches, products and accounts, will be rebranded as Lloyds. Both banks, as well as the Bank of Scotland, already fall under the same parent company, Lloyds Banking Group.

No Action Required for Halifax Customers

People already banking with Halifax have been told there's “no need to take any action”, says an expert at consumer group Which?. Which? deputy editor Sam Richardson explained that Lloyds will contact all existing Halifax customers over the coming days and weeks, if they have not been contacted already. These communications will all come through trusted channels like the Halifax app, your online bank, email or via post.

Brand Change Only, No Impact on Daily Banking

Halifax previously told customers that this migration will only be a brand change, meaning it shouldn't alter how you interact with your bank and accounts on a day-to-day basis. Guidance on the Halifax website explains: "Over the next few months, we'll be in touch to move you to the Lloyds app and online banking as we'll be closing these for Halifax. They work in a similar way so should feel familiar and just as easy to use. We'll send you an invitation in the app and online banking, so you'll know it's from us. It'll guide you through the process in just a few easy steps, with no passwords or memorable details to set up. We'll also email you around the time the invite will appear, so you don't miss it."

When to Take Action

Only once customers have received an invitation will they need to take action. The details of which will be confirmed in their invitation and will include a few “easy steps” without the need to set up passwords or memorable details. Although Halifax has closed several branches in 2026 already, no plans have been announced for more branches to be closed during the rebrand. Eventually, the Halifax app will stop working and customers won't be able to access their accounts from that point anymore.

What Stays the Same

The bank told customers that all of the following will stay the same even after the rebrand: account numbers, sort codes, policy numbers, roll numbers, card details and PINs, standing orders and direct debits, and payments and repayments.
