Nearly half of Brits (49%) would prefer a special night in over heading to a restaurant, according to a survey commissioned by premium frozen pizza range Dr Oetker Suprema. The research found that noisy restaurants topped the list of dining-out frustrations for more than a third (34%) of Brits.
Cost and quality concerns
The survey also revealed that 32% of respondents cited the cost of eating out as a source of frustration, while 30% said restaurant food often failed to live up to expectations. Almost a quarter (23%) complained about expensive drinks, and 26% disliked being seated too close to other diners.
Campaign launch
The findings come as Dr Oetker Suprema launches 'The Evening Upgrade', a campaign celebrating how Brits can enjoy restaurant-quality experiences at home without the expense of ordering a takeaway or dining out. Fronted by Vicky Pattison, the campaign encourages Brits to make nights in feel a little more special, whether that's pouring a glass of wine, lighting a few candles or treating themselves to something indulgent.
To bring 'The Evening Upgrade' to life, celebrity fashion designer Zeynep Kartal created the Suprema gown - a red-carpet-worthy dress that works as both a ballgown and a dressing gown. Vicky wears the gown as a visual reminder of how evening upgrades can both feel luxurious and be enjoyed right at home.
What the ambassadors said
Vicky said: "Honestly, sometimes you just can't beat a night in. Candles lit, comfies on, glass of wine poured and a really good pizza - what more could you want? I'm all about those little things that make an ordinary night feel like a bit of a treat, and Dr Oetker Suprema is perfect for that. It's giving restaurant-quality pizza without having to leave the sofa - and I'm very much here for that."
Amy Beresford at Dr Oetker said: "The research shows the idea of a 'special' evening is changing. Staying in is no longer necessarily a compromise - for many people it's become the treat itself. To bring this idea to life, we've worked with celebrity fashion designer Zeynep Kartal to create the Suprema Gown - a couture-inspired dressing gown that combines the glamour of evening wear with the comfort of staying in. With its luxurious detailing and elegant silhouette, it's the ultimate expression of what our Evening Upgrade campaign is all about. Proving that you don't need to leave the house to enjoy a little luxury and that sometimes the most indulgent evenings are spent at home."
Dr Oetker Suprema was created to bring a premium, Neapolitan-style pizza experience into the home at a fraction of the price of ordering takeaway or dining out. Pizzas available in the range include La Margherita, La Romana, La Calabria and La Funghi Ricotta.
