Bexley's Lost Lottery Millionaire Misses Out on £10.6m Jackpot

A National Lottery ticket bought in Bexley, south-east London, has expired without a claim, leaving the mystery holder £10.6 million poorer. The 180-day deadline to claim the Lotto jackpot, drawn on 4 October last year, passed last Thursday, despite an extensive search by operator Allwyn.

Allwyn confirmed that no valid claim was made for the prize, which will now be donated to charitable causes supported by the lottery. A spokesperson said it was 'very unusual' for such a large sum to go unclaimed, as most unclaimed prizes are smaller-tier amounts.

Senior winners' adviser Andy Carter expressed disappointment, stating: 'Despite an extensive search for the mystery Bexley millionaire, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward... and has now unfortunately missed out on this life-changing sum of money.' He added that the funds would benefit good causes, including projects in the Bexley area.

The National Lottery raises around £33 million each week for good causes. Local beneficiaries in Bexley include the Exchange Erith, a community arts organisation, and You and Me Happy Family Children's Disability Trust, which supports disabled children and their carers.

Five other major lottery prizes, worth over £3.2 million, remain unclaimed, including three £1 million EuroMillions or Lotto tickets.
