Asda has issued a warning over a children's toy due to a risk of choking. The supermarket has recalled the Hapello Power Train and is asking customers who have it to return it to their nearest Asda store.
The product was sold between August 2024 and February 2026, the retailer says. A full refund will be provided to anyone who brings back the item affected - a receipt is not needed.
Reason for recall
In its warning notice, Asda said: "We have found that in some cases this product may release the orange steam dome from the top of the train (circled above), which could pose as a small part choking hazard. We have taken the decision to recall the product."
Asda further advised customers: "If you have purchased the Hapello Power Train, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. The product was sold between 2024 and 2026. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0330 053 0111."
Official safety warning
The Office for Product Safety and Standards also shared the warning, saying: "The product presents a risk of choking because a small part (the orange steam dome) may easily detach from the top of the train. This small part poses a choking risk to young children, particularly those under 36 months of age who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011."
The product has been recalled by end users. Owners are advised to stop using the product and keep it out of the reach of young children. Owners should return the product to their nearest ASDA store for a refund.
