Shopper's TikTok Plea Sparks Debate
A Tesco customer named Christie has taken to TikTok to plead with the supermarket to reinstate changing rooms in its stores, after purchasing shorts that did not fit properly. In her video, she argued that the lack of fitting areas forces customers to either try on clothes in the aisles or buy items only to return them later. She said: "This is a prime example of why we need the changing rooms back at Tesco. We don't wanna be stripping off on the shop floor, we don't wanna have to then bring the clothes home and take them back and wait for our refund." Christie noted that trying on the shorts in-store would have spared her "a bit of hassle," adding: "I do normally try clothes on on the shop floor, but it was too hot today, and I wasn't dressed to be able to do it."
Customers Rally Behind the Cause
The frustration is not isolated. Other shoppers have echoed Christie's sentiments, with one commenting on her video: "100% we need them back. It annoys me so much. Just bring them back." Another wrote: "I don't buy things most of the time from Sainsbury's and Tesco because I can't be bothered having to take them back." A third added: "It's so annoying, I had to buy two sizes of one item last week so I could try them on at home. It's ridiculous." However, not all customers agree. One fashion enthusiast remarked: "I just try the stuff on over my leggings. I always get stared at but don't care."
Tesco Responds to Customer Feedback
When approached for comment on the changing room requests, a Tesco spokesperson stated that the supermarket welcomes feedback on the matter and noted that fitting room trials are currently underway. The company also reminded customers that F&F clothing can be returned within 30 days with proof of purchase for a refund or exchange.
