Tottenham Could Swap Lucas Bergvall for Morgan Gibbs-White in Deal
Tottenham Could Swap Bergvall for Gibbs-White

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a fresh opportunity to reignite their interest in Morgan Gibbs-White, as Lucas Bergvall signals his desire to leave the club this summer. The Sweden international has become the subject of growing transfer speculation, with a departure from north London looking increasingly likely.

Bergvall Wants Out

Reports on Sunday indicated that Bergvall has made clear his wish to exit Tottenham, with several Premier League and European clubs monitoring his situation. According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest have now entered the race to sign the midfielder, viewing him as the ideal replacement for Elliot Anderson, who is poised to join Manchester City for a fee exceeding £100 million.

Bergvall remains under contract at Tottenham until 2031, while Aston Villa have also been linked with the 22-year-old. The development comes after Tottenham's failed pursuit of Gibbs-White last summer, when the England international opted to sign a new contract with Forest instead of completing a £60 million move to Spurs.

Swap Deal Possibility

Gibbs-White now has two years left on his Forest contract and is expected to attract interest from European clubs following another impressive campaign. With Forest showing interest in Bergvall, Tottenham could explore a player-plus-cash swap arrangement. Although no formal proposal has been made, the financial logic is compelling: Gibbs-White would likely command a higher transfer fee than Bergvall, making a swap deal a cost-effective solution for Spurs.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is seeking midfield reinforcements, and a swap for Gibbs-White could be the most financially prudent route, especially with several expensive targets already on the club's radar.

Spurs' Summer Activity

Tottenham have been active in the summer transfer window, securing several new arrivals. Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi joined on free transfers after leaving Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively. The club also completed a £52 million permanent deal for Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton.

Additionally, Tottenham are monitoring Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton as they look to strengthen their midfield options further.
