Tottenham Hotspur are ready to escalate their summer spending by making a determined push to sign Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi, according to a report from Sport. The 20-year-old scored 13 goals in his debut Premier League season, attracting attention from top clubs including Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
Spurs' summer spending spree
Spurs have already invested over £237 million this transfer window, securing Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers, followed by significant fees for Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali, who joined from Newcastle for a record £100 million. The club narrowly avoided relegation last season and are strengthening across the board.
Kroupi as top target
Manager Roberto De Zerbi is urging the club to accelerate their pursuit of Kroupi, who is seen as an alternative to Julian Alvarez for Barcelona. The Spanish giants have also shown interest but have struggled to land the Argentina star. Tottenham are reportedly the most determined suitor and are prepared to 'go all out' to secure the striker.
Arsenal and Barcelona in the race
Arsenal could also enter the market for a new number nine, though their move may depend on selling another forward. Barcelona view Kroupi as a backup option. Bournemouth are reluctant to lose their prized asset and are demanding at least €100 million (£85.5 million) to consider a sale.
Other transfer activity
In other news, Tottenham have sold academy product Alfie Devine to Preston North End for around £6 million, nearly three times the Championship club's previous record fee. Devine had a productive loan spell at Deepdale last season.
